SigraFi, a UK-based gold offtake company, has secured a $35 million credit facility. This funding will finance gold supply from artisanal miners.
The facility comes from a group of British and UAE investors. UAE-based Ronin Commercial Brokers LLC led the consortium. This capital allows SigraFi to expand its current operations.
SigraFi works with contracted suppliers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia, and South America. It also plans to sign new cooperatives and aggregators. The company buys gold through multi-year contracts from organized artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) cooperatives.
It partners with PeaceGold in eastern DRC, working with 11 cooperatives that represent 25,000 miners. This system gives cooperatives a larger share of their gold’s value. It also provides a traceable route to the world gold market.
Artisanal gold mining accounts for at least 20% of newly mined gold globally. Many of these producers lack compliance capabilities and access to formal markets. SigraFi aims to bridge this gap, connecting them to institutional buyers.
